    In the early 1700’s Gingerbread became widely popular across the North West of England. Production in Ormskirk can be dated as early as 1732. The ladies who made it at home would take it to a local bakers and use the giant ovens to have it baked and would then sell it to the general public and to coach travellers at the many staging Inns dotted around.
